| Alias |
|
Any AT&T customer with text messaging or multimedia messaging can set up an alias to simplify receiving messages. Instead of typing in your wireless number, your friends can use your alias.
Aliases also offer more privacy, since you don't have to give out your wireless number in order to receive messages. In fact, you may even set up a preference to only receive messages sent to your alias address.
|
| Allow and Block |
|
AT&T customers can restrict messages sent to their phone. One way to do this is through allow and block lists.
To prevent messages from a specific email address, enter the address and/or domain in the block list.
To always permit specific messages, enter addresses and domains in the allow list. The rules for the allow list supersede those for the block list. For instance, if you placed the domain "company.com" on your block list and "mary@company.com" on your allow list, all emails from that domain except for "mary@company.com" would be blocked.
These lists will block all PC-based text and multimedia messages. (Messages sent from wireless phones cannot be blocked.) You may have up to 250 entries between the two lists, divided up however you wish.

| Domain |
|
A component that can be set up on allow and block lists for AT&T customers. The domain is typically an Internet service provider or company email address-essentially, everything after the "@" in an email address.
Email address: name@company.com
Domain: company.com
If a domain is entered in your block list, all messages sent from that domain will be blocked—unless a specific address is entered in the allow list. In that case, only messages from the specific address could be received.

| Email Delivery Control |
|
This setting lets you block messages to your phone. You can opt to block all PC-based text and multimedia messages. (Messages sent from wireless phones cannot be blocked.)
|
| Maximum Segments Per Message |
|
This setting lets you determine how many segments of a message are initially sent to your phone. This allows you to determine whether the rest of a message is worth being delivered to your phone—and worth paying for each additional segment. To receive additional messages beyond those downloaded to your phone, reply "M" for more.
If you set this preference, choose between one and 10 segments.

| Mobile Number Control |
